Intelligent Mould Protection with Visible and Thermal Vision
Avalon Vision Solutions is advancing preventative mould protection with MoldWatcher™ and ThermalWatch™—two intelligent machine-vision systems designed to identify process risks before they result in mould damage, quality defects or costly production downtime.
MoldWatcher uses patented, non-contact vision technology to inspect critical areas of the mould during every production cycle. It verifies that inserts are correctly positioned before the mould closes and confirms that moulded parts have been fully removed after ejection. The system can also detect stuck parts, misaligned slides, lifters or cores, and other unexpected objects within the mould area. If an inspection fails, MoldWatcher immediately alerts the operator and stops the press before damaging force can be applied.
ThermalWatch adds the power of infrared imaging. By measuring and verifying the surface temperature of moulded components and mould areas, it detects thermal variations that cannot be seen by the human eye. These variations can provide an early warning of process instability, incomplete ejection or developing quality problems. If temperatures or part conditions fall outside established tolerances, ThermalWatch prevents the next stage of the cycle from continuing.
